Dark circles? Remedies home made

HOME REMEDIES FOR DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES

Dark circles under the eyes tell us about the health of an individual. They are produced due to overstrain, after an illness or an allergy. They can also be the result of undernourishment. But these dark circles do not produce any harm to the body. So anybody with dark circles should not worry about them. In fact, sometimes they're not even an indication of physical problems.

Dark circles can be aggravated by fatigue, allergies, overexposure to the sun, menstruation or pregnancy. But they're usually hereditary; if your parents have them, there are more chances that you do, too have them.

Dark circles are the result of the engorged blood vessels under your eyes. Because the skin under eyes is thinner than skin anywhere else on body, therefore blood vessels there are more noticeable, especially in fair skinned persons. Usually, dark circles are caused by hyper pigmentation of melanin, the substance that gives color to the skin.

In western countries, the kidneys are related to the adrenal glands and with stress levels in life being so high; these glands are very often exhausted. When these glands are weakened, allergies are prevalent. Dark circles under the eyes are known to be a classic symptom of an allergy, together other signs including edema and fatigue.

Dark circles under eyes may also be due to aging which thins the skin around the eyes. Eight hours of sleep is essential. Do not leave cream on the skin around the eyes for long periods. Circles under the eyes can worsen in people who smoke or suffer from allergies.

HOME REMEDIES FOR DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES

Apply a cold compress this will help to constrict blood vessels and turns tissue white, and dark circles will lighten.
Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water everyday.
Put slices of raw potatoes or cucumber by closing eyes over the eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Wash with warm water and apply a cream.
Take out the juice of the cucumber. Prepare a mixture of lemon juice, lanolin cream and cucumber juice and apply around the eye for 10-15 minutes.
Prepare a mixture by adding equal quantity of potato and cucumber juices. Dip a cotton swab in this mixture and put the cotton on eyelids and keep for 20 minutes. Wash your eyes with cold water.
Prepare a mixture of lemon and tomato juice (equal parts) and apply it on the black circles 2 times a day.
Make a paste of turmeric powder with pineapple juice for dark circles under the eyes.
Apply crushed mint around the eye.
Another home remedy for dark circles under the eyes is - massage with almond oil under and around eyes at bedtime daily for 2 weeks. Almond helps to remove dark circles.
No cream should be left on the skin around the eyes for long periods.
Rub the area with a powdered Vitamin E capsule and wash off with a mixture of honey and egg white.
Put hot and cold clothes alternatively under eyes for 10 minutes. Then apply some almond oil on the dark circles before going to bed.
The acupressure point for eyes is on the mount below the index finger of your palms. Pressing this mount may help.
Dip some carrot leave in hot water and leave for a few minutes. Drink the liquid 3 times a day before meals.
Dip cotton balls in rose water or cold water and keep under the eyes for 10 minutes.
Make a paste of 1 tsp. tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder, and 1 tsp. of flour. Apply around eyes. Leave on for 10 minutes before washing. This is an effective home remedy for dark circle treatment.
Take some freezed parsley. Use the parsley cubes instead of eye creams to reduce the dark circles and puffiness. Parsley is packed with chlorophyll which helps fade darkness, while the ice cubes reduce the swelling.

Takes vasoline, put it on a metal spoon and freeze it for 15 minutes. Then apply it to the eyes for a few minutes.

Add some mint leaves, lemon juice, and salt to tomato juice and drink.

Tomatoes with Beans

Try recipes with beans as it is a cheap healthy protein

White Beans and Tomatoes - You need: Crock-pot, Olive oil, onion, garlic, 3 6” stalks of fresh rosemary, large can of diced tomatoes, and 2 cans of white/northern beans. Sauté chopped onions in olive oil in the crock-pot on the high setting for about 15 minutes. Add chopped garlic and sauté for 5 more minutes. Then add the rest of the ingredients and let it cook on low in the crock-pot for however long you want. Nothing in this recipe needs cooking so its just a matter of the longer it cooks together the more flavor it will have. I live in Northern California and rosemary is a ubiquitous landscaping plant here so I have an endless free supply. I think it is prolific in other parts of the country too. You might add a little cumin or Tabasco sauce too. Serve with brown bread and a little parmesan chee

Rice With Frozen peas or other Vegetables

Fried Rice – You need: Rice, frozen peas, 2 eggs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger. I like to make rice ahead of time on the weekend and eat it several times. I usually cook rice in chicken bouillon for flavor. So sauté onion and add frozen peas to defrost. Scramble eggs in same pan. Add rice, ginger, and garlic. Add soy sauce and some sesame oil to taste.

Potato Quick and Healthy

4 Servings, about 1/2 cup each, plus 4 servings for snack
Potatoes 4 pounds
Vegetable oil 4 tablespoons
Ground cumin 1 teaspoon
Red pepper 1/4 teaspoon

PREPARATION TIME: 10 MINUTES
COOKING TIME: 20 MINUTES

1. Lightly coat a 7 by 12 by 1 inch pan with oil.

2. Wash potatoes; cut in half lengthwise.

3. Place cut sides of potatoes on the oiled pan; rub potatoes in the oil; turn potatoes over so that cut sides are facing up.

4. Mix cumin and red pepper together; sprinkle over potatoes.

5. Bake at 400° F until potatoes are golden brown and tender, about 20 minutes.

Heath and healing received by others through physic spiritual help

http://www.journeyofthesoul.com/healing.htm

Healing Others by Healing Ourselves?

A few weeks ago an email crossed my desk about a psychotherapist in Hawaii named Dr Hew Len who has an even more radical approach to healing. According to his account while employed by the Hawaii State Hospital (HSH) for four years, Dr Hew Len endeavored to treat and cure an entire ward of criminally insane patients without ever meeting, or physically interacting with, any of them. In addition, as the patients began to steadily improve and even get released, conditions on the ward also improved with the result that staff morale went up even as turnover and absenteeism declined.

How did he do it? Well, according to Dr Hew Len’s testimony instead of interacting with patients he simply sat in his office with a patient’s file open before him while he "worked on himself." And how did he work on himself? By repeating over and over "I’m sorry" and "I love you".

You see, according to Dr Hew Len he was simply healing the part of himself that created them. In his way of thinking each person’s mind is their very own personal movie projector and everything they see in their world is their responsibility because they are the one who’s projecting it. If you don’t like the movie you’re watching it’s up to you to change the movie. Because to heal anyone of anything we must first neutralize the negative energy we associate with that person. To do that we must first ask forgiveness for having held that person in a negative way, in our own minds, and then allow ourselves to feel love toward that person.

Needless to say, if Dr Hew Len is correct, the implications for our entire view of reality would be nothing short of staggering. Given my own background with psychic healing, and having been a lifetime student of Carlos Castaneda’s ideas about the nature of reality, I was probably somewhat more open to considering Dr Hew Len’s radical views than most, so I decided to recirculate the email among a few select people in my own circle. One of those who received it was a friend by the name of Aliman Sears, President of the Hawaii Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association. His response, however, stimulated a whole new set of issues for me to ponder. Here, edited for brevity, is the essence of what he had to say.

"I've worked at HSH on and off for the past seven years as a community based psychiatric case manager and team leader. I suppose if there was some solid evidence about what Dr. Hew Len did, I would have at least heard rumors about him. However, in the case of HSH, even if there was a temporal relation between his utterances and the healing of the patients, that doesn't mean that there was also a causal link. Without a study showing that link, I'm skeptical. The HSH has been under a Consent Decree as a result of a federal lawsuit, and the DOJ has put severe pressure on the Hawaii Dept. of Health to improve. As a result, the HSH has made huge leaps forward. I saw it transform myself. And it was due to a lot of hard work by a lot of people across a wide spectrum of state and private service providers. The DOH lit a HUGE fire under a lot of people all across the management and treatment spectrum, and the result--it's true--was that everything, including the patients improved drastically. Whole wings did close, but it was because the census dropped and other reasons. My guess is that if such cures would have happened, especially in "a whole ward," it really would be big news. Again, I'm not saying this didn't happen, I'm saying I'm skeptical in the absence of evidence."

Aliman raised the one question that any scientist worth his salt would ask. Where’s the evidence of a causal link? How do we prove such a claim? Still, the question is not altogether unlike looking for proof of the existence of God in a test tube. Surely, I thought to myself, a man as deeply spiritual as I know Aliman to be would see the irony in that. And that’s when I felt an epiphany coming on.

I found myself thinking about a psychic healing project that I had undertaken with the help of several friends just a week earlier… a project to heal a terminally ill patient with inoperable cancer whom the doctors had already given up for dead… a patient who just happened to be a champion race horse named Lost in the Fog, winner of the national Eclipse Award for best sprinter of 2005. In fact, just days earlier I had discussed the project with George Noory on his nationally syndicated radio show Coast to Coast AM, a conversation which actually inspired the writing of this article.

What occurred to me was that on the day we started turning off the "faucets" that control the blood flow to Fog’s tumors everyone connected with the horse had already given him up for dead. All they were committed to doing was making him comfortable for however many days he had left until he would finally have to be euthanized. Then, four days into our daily treatments, a new article appeared in the Daily Racing Form announcing that the horse was "doing remarkably well" and they were not giving up on him after all. In fact, the doctors had decided to employ an aggressive regimen of steroids in an effort to, of all things, "shrink his tumors." Well, imagine that.

Upon hearing this news I began to wonder if perhaps all our efforts at sending healing energies to this horse may have affected more than just his tumors. Maybe we were affecting the consciousness of everyone around him as well. The good news from all this was that with everyone pulling for Lost in the Fog he now had a better chance of beating his cancer than anyone had imagined. The bad news, of course, was that scientists, like my good friend Aliman, would never get the "proof" they want to justify believing that our psychic healing was the cause behind the effect.

And what if the same is true in the case of Dr Hew Len and HSH? What if all those wheels that Aliman tells us were set in motion to bring about positive changes at HSH were actually a response to one therapist sitting alone in his office focusing his intention on forgiveness and love? What if quantum theory is correct and causality can never really be isolated from effect, and both thoughts and events are like a river where each water molecule is both cause and effect, each pushing the one in front of it even as another molecule is pushing it from behind?

Or, maybe the movie we’re all watching is just a projection like Dr Hew Len says… the product of a single enormous collective unconscious powered by a script we’re all collectively creating from one moment to the next. And what if each one of us has been endowed with the power to edit that script in any way we choose? Do we have the courage to properly wield such power, or will our fear of failure continue to make us shrink from the ominous responsibility of creation? The need for healing on planet Earth has never been greater… not just from illness and disease, but from broken hearts, from regional conflicts, and from environmental misconduct. But if each of us lends a hand, in some small way, maybe we’ll discover, in the end, that we really can heal anyone of anything.

How to be Energetic And Healthy: HERBS (GINGER) FOR HEADACHES

How to be Energetic And Healthy: HERBS (GINGER) FOR HEADACHES

HERBS (GINGER) FOR HEADACHES

When your head hurts, a pain pill is an easy way to silence the throbbing. But did you know there are herbs that may help, too?

James A. Duke, PhD, author of The Green Pharmacy, offers five options for you to consider.

* Feverfew and ginger: Research suggests that regularly taking feverfew reduces migraine frequency, while ginger may soothe symptoms.
* Willow: The herb contains salicin, an aspirin-like substance. White willow (S. alba) is rather low in this pain-relieving stuff, so if you want more headache relief per cup of tea, look for species that are more potent, like S. daphnoides or S. fragilis. (Find out why aspirin is also a "brain pill.")
* Red pepper: Studies show that its heat-giving ingredient, capsaicin, may help prevent cluster headaches. (Here’s why you should add the food to an egg-white omelet.)
* Thyme: Thyme can be used in a compress to ease achy muscles in the neck, shoulders, and back that contribute to tension headaches. You can also drink thyme tea. (Check out how this herb can healthy-up a salad, too.)

Ask Your Doc
Remember, just like pharmaceutical drugs, herbs can cause side effects or interact with medications. So before running out to the health-food store, clear your plans with your doctor, and ask about the appropriate dose. Take this quick mini assessment to learn about other uses for herbs.

Step one for preventing lung cancer: Say no to tobacco. Step two: Have a tablespoon of vitamin-E-rich peanut butter.

Although many studies have suggested that taking high-dose vitamin E supplements may cause lung cancer, one new study bucks the trend. It revealed a possible lung benefit from dietary E -- the kind you get from peanut butter, nuts, and seeds.

Foods You Can Use
It's another argument for getting the nutrients you need from foods, not pills. In the study, people who had the highest intake of vitamin E from foods had a 55 percent lower risk of lung cancer compared with the people who got the least amount of vitamin E in their diets. Dietary alpha-tocopherol, the type of E found in peanut butter and oil-based salad dressings, was particularly protective. (Did you know? About 15 percent of lung cancers occur in nonsmokers. Get tips on reducing your risk.)

More E for the Road
Why the difference between vitamin E supplements and dietary vitamin E? Clinical trials involving vitamin E supplements tend to use the synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol. So it may be that there is something unique to natural alpha-tocopherol that produces a health benefit. Or something else in alpha-tocopherol-rich food may be helpful for lungs. Here are some other benefits of getting extra E:

EAT MORE VEGETABLES HIGH AKALI

Neutralizing an Acid Diet Can Protect Bones
By Better Health Research News Desk • Mar 12th, 2009 • Category: Acidity, Bone strength, Health Articles, Thursday Edition

Eating foods that have a high alkali content may be a good way to protect against bone loss, new research suggests.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that consuming bicarbonate can reduce biomarkers associated with bone loss and fracture.

The researchers explain that fruits and vegetables are metabolized by the body into bicarbonate, which produces alkali.

Meanwhile, most Americans follow a diet that contains a large amount of protein and cereal grains, which are metabolized to acid and may lead to metabolic acidosis and reduced bone mineral density.

Nutrition specialist Bess Dawson-Hughes of Tufts University led the study, which found that participants given either potassium or sodium bicarbonate over the course of three months had fewer bone loss biomarkers than those in the control group.

The amount of bicarbonate consumed each day equaled roughly nine servings of fruits and vegetables.

Therefore, the researchers conclude adding more fruits and vegetables and following an alkaline diet may help you protect against bone loss.

Some people have also turned to nutritional supplements that help restore a healthy pH balance to the body.

The TRAIN of life

Some folks ride the train of life
Looking out the rear,
Watching miles of life roll by,
And marking every year.

They sit in sad remembrance,
Of wasted days gone by,
And curse their life for what it was,
And hang their heads and cry.

But, I don't concern myself with that,
I took a different vent,
I look forward to what life holds,
And not what has been spent.

So strap me to the engine.
As securely as I can be,
I want to be out on the front,
To see what I can see

I want to feel the winds of change,
Blowing in my face,
I want to see what life unfolds,
As I move from place to place

I want to see what's coming up,
Not looking at the past,
Life's too short for yesterdays,
It moves along too fast.

So if the ride gets bumpy,
While you are looking back,
Go up front and you may find,
Your life has jumped the track.

It's all right to remember,
'That's part of history,
But up front's where it's happening,
There's so much mystery.

The enjoyment of living,
Is not where we have been,
It's looking ever forward,
To another year and ten.

It's searching all the byways,
Never should you refrain,
For if you want to live your life,
You've gotta drive the train!

A LOT OF HEALTH BENEFITS FROM USING DILL+

Health Benefits of Dill
The health benefits of dill include good digestion, relief from insomnia, hiccups, diarrhea, dysentery, menstrual disorders, respiratory disorders, cancer, etc. It is also good for oral care.

Dill, scientifically known as Anethum Graveolens, has been in use in culinary and in medicines since ages. Both seeds and the leaves can be used. Apart from giving a strong tangy, appetizing flavor and taste, dill has many medicinal properties, which mainly come from certain compounds called Monoterpenes, Flavonoids, minerals and certain amino acids. Let us see where we can use dill.

The health benefits of dill include:

Digestion: Dill itself is an appetizer and therefore extensively used in culinary. The essential oils present in it are stimulant in nature and activates secretion of bile and digestive juices. These oils also stimulate peristaltic motion of the intestine.
Insomnia: Essential oils found in herbs have a peculiar property. They are simultaneously stimulant and sedative or hypnotic, that is, they stimulate as well as pacify. The essential oils in dill are no different. The Flavonoids and vitamin-B complex present in its essential oils, being stimulant in nature, activates secretion of certain enzymes and hormones which have calmative and hypnotic effects, thereby helping have a good sleep.
Hiccups: Hiccups occur due to various reasons, primarily due to trapping and repeated upward movement of gases through the food pipe and secondarily due to certain allergies, hypersensitivity, hyperactivity and nervous malfunctioning etc. Dill can help in all of these situations. Being a carminative, it helps expulsion of gases and also reduces gas formation and being sedative, it helps calm down hiccups due to allergies (which is actually hypersensitivity of the body towards certain foreign elements and bile), hyperactivity, nervous disturbances etc.
Diarrhea: Diarrhea is caused mainly due to two reasons; indigestion and microbial action. For the first, dill can certainly help as it has very good digestive properties. For the second, it can help again since the Monoterpenes and Flavonoids present in its essential oils are germicidal or bactericidal in nature and can help cure diarrhea by inhibiting microbial infections.
Dysentery: Dysentery is primarily caused due to fungal infections. Here too, dill can help as its essential oils are disinfectant in nature and help inhibit fungal infection effectively.

Menstrual Disorders:
The Flavonoids in essential oils of dill are stimulant and Emenagogue in nature, that is, they stimulate secretion of certain hormones which in turn help maintain proper menstrual cycles.

Respiratory Disorders:
Kaempferol and certain other components of Flavonoids and Monoterpenes in the essential oils of dill are anti congestive and anti histaminic in nature and help clear congestion in the respiratory system due to histamine, allergies or cough.

•Oral Care: Dill seeds and leaves are very good mouth fresheners. Apart from that, the essential oils in it are germicidal, anti oxidant and disinfectant in nature. Thus they help end microbial infections in the mouth as well as their anti oxidants minimize the damages caused to gums and teeth by the free radicals.
•Cancer: Now it is the turn of the Monoterpenes to come under the lime light. These chemoprotective Monoterpenes, being stimulant in nature, activates secretion of an enzyme called glutathione-S-transferase (the radical glutathione is an effective anti oxidant) which is very effective in neutralizing carcinogens, particularly Cyano- and Benzo- derivatives and free radicals, thereby protecting from cancer. The other anti oxidants in essential oils of dill also contribute to this.
•Other Benefits: Dill is relaxant, fortifying (strength giving), diuretic (increases urination helping removal of toxic substances from the body), carminative (helps removal of gases), anti spasmodic (prevents cramps), anti flatulent, stimulates lactation (galactagogue) and endocrinal secretions, enhances libido due to presence of Arginine and last but not the least, it ensures bone and dental health being a good source of calcium.

Are the rumors true? Could grapefruit -- touted for years as a weight loss wonder -- actually work?

Possibly. In one 12-week study, obese people who ate half a grapefruit before each of three daily meals shed more pounds than their counterparts did.

Show Me the Grapefruit
In the study, whole grapefruit also took a bite out of insulin resistance in folks with metabolic syndrome -- a constellation of conditions that can raise the risk for several serious health problems, including diabetes. Find out if you could be at risk for metabolic syndrome.

Go Whole
Although grapefruit juice and grapefruit capsules also may have pound-shedding potential, whole fruit was clearly the winner in the study -- probably because the whole fruit has appetite-controlling fiber as well. The scent of grapefruit may help you, too. Here’s why.

Combine Your Efforts
Exercise and a calorie-controlled diet remain the true cornerstones of weight loss, but if grapefruit helps, great! However, if you’re taking medications of any kind, talk to your doctor before adding grapefruit to the mix; it interacts with several meds.
