TEA


You've heard me talk a lot about green and white teas. But there's another tea few Americans know about, despite its reputation around the world. It's called hibiscus tea—and I suspect once word gets out, it will be front-page news.

Hibiscus tea contains powerful antioxidants, including anthocyanins, which help protect your cells from free-radical damage. Its best to find quality in health food stores

But what really caught my attention was its long history of traditional use for promoting cardiovascular health. And now new preliminary evidence is suggesting it can help promote healthy blood pressure as well. For these reasons alone I've added hibiscus to my health regimen, and encourage you to do the same.

Proof that you should not take doctor prescribed drugs


study concluded that one of the major causes of falls in nursing homes is the side effects caused by medications.
* Another study found that 97% of nursing home patients take at least one drug, with 17% taking 5 or more!
* Yet another study found that many drugs can cause Parkinson's-like symptoms and concluded that "drug-induced parkinsonism is frequent."

* And still another study listed 22 different categories of drugs that can cause symptoms that mimic Alzheimer's... plus 14 different over-the-counter drugs that can cause those symptoms!

Here's a typical scenario. A healthy person goes to the doctor for a checkup and is told his cholesterol or blood pressure is high. So he starts taking medication, which causes side effects. This leads his doctor to give him a second drug to treat those side effects. But, of course, that second drug causes new side effects. So the doctor prescribes a third drug to treat the side effects of the second one!

Before you know it, the person's health is spiraling downward and he soon needs people to take care of him. And everyone just chalks it up to "old age."

Except for the insurance companies. They know better. Recently, I spoke to a 72-year-old woman who was turned down by THREE different long-term care companies, even though she passed her physical with flying colors. The reason given? She was on too many prescription drugs.

Yes, the insurance companies know that if this woman continues to take her meds, it's only a matter of time before her health deteriorates. And they don't want to be the ones footing the bill when that happens.

But you can fight back against this system of medicine run amok. First of all, make sure you always try natural remedies first. Pharmaceuticals should be a last resort, not a first option. Secondly, if you have a loved one in a nursing home, talk to a naturally minded physician about possibly weaning them off the drugs. This single step may make a huge difference in their health and well-being.

Last year I told you about a 2003 study in which more than 200 patients with chronic congestive heart failure (CHF) were divided into three groups to receive either 900 mg or 1,800 mg of hawthorn extract daily, or placebo.

After 16 weeks, maximum exercise tolerance increased significantly in the high-dose group compared to the other two groups, and heart failure symptoms improved in both of the extract groups, but not the placebo group. In an 18-month follow up assessment, patients who were taking the extract had a 20 percent reduced risk of CHF-related death compared to placebo.

Oils like Peppermind help Headaches and other cures


Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica, Juniperus virginiana, or J. Mexicana)

Most “cedarwood” oil comes from juniper!

Distilled from the cones of the cypress tree.
Healing Power: This aroma is said to build emotional and mental resolve. Inhaling it may help relieve the symptoms of throat and respiratory infections.


For Best Results: Place a few drops on a radiator or in a saucer of water and leave in a warm part of the house. May cause allergic reactions. Avoid if you suffer from high blood pressure.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)

Its head-clearing aroma is a key ingredient in Vicks VapoRub.
Healing Power: A powerful antiseptic and healing agent, it also is renowned as a treatment for respiratory complaints.


For Best Results: Massage mixed with a carrier oil onto the chest, or add three drops to the dust bag of your vacuum cleaner to repel dust mites and freshen the air throughout your home. Nontoxic externally, but internally it is very toxic—3.5 ml is usually fatal.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

A staple of Asian cuisine, ginger is used in Indian medicine to combat arthritis.

Healing Power: Noted for its warming and decongestant properties, ginger also helps fight off colds and flu and reduces fever by inducing perspiration.

For Best Results: Massage mixed with a carrier oil onto the chest, inhale, or add six drops to running bathwater. May irritate the skin if applied undiluted..

Lavender (Lavandula officinalis)

The oil is taken from the fresh, blue flower spikes.

Now wild throughout the United States, this plant is native to Europe and Asia.
Healing Power: Relieves pain when applied externally to sore muscles. Also fights fever and helps to ease headaches and respiratory infections.

For Best Results: To ease skin infections and inflammation, add three to five drops to bath water. For relief of respiratory ailments, add two drops to a bowl of steaming water and inhale the vapor for five minutes.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)

Products made with this plant have a menthol-citrus scent.

Healing Power: Widely recognized as a powerful tool against a variety of harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, molds, and parasites.

For Best Results: Only a small amount of peppermint is required, whether used topically or in bathwater. Keep eyes closed when inhaling its scent and wash hands thoroughly after use. Keep away from the faces of small children; may cause wheezing or an involuntary gagging response.

Definition: positive energy
First, imagine positive energy as a perfect alignment of emotions, thoughts and behavior. An example would be a dinner party, surrounded by like-minded people whose intellect and conversation match your own. You feel buoyed by such connections and can let your guard down. There is no danger of being pulled into the undercurrent of jealousy, anger or resentment - only the uplifting feeling of positivity. Imagine yourself as having a protective shield surrounding you. The shield is always on, but at this moment it is on a dimmer switch and doesn't need to be activated to optimal brilliance.

In a negative energy situation - a meeting at work with lots of blame-laying and hurt feelings, or an outing with a friend who never ceases to gripe - your shield should be up, full force. This energy force of golden vibes and protective love is what you tap into when you feel the need. You may not see this protective light, but you can sense it. This also applies to your own negative "voices" - the ones that say you're not good enough, smart enough, talented enough to get the job, promotion or good life that you want. If you can't ignore those voices of self-doubt, just tell them to "be quiet." You're in control, not them - because if you give in to them, your creativity is out the window.

Bad vibe protection
You must protect yourself from drowning in the bad vibes of others so that your own subtle energy doesn't become stagnant and weigh you down. Aside from the energy shield, there are other techniques you can follow. In yoga, the word "Satnam" means "the truth within you." By surrendering to your truth, you will follow your proper life path. Repeat this word as you breathe out negativity and inhale positivity.

Absorb the loving energy instead: the unconditional love of your pet as it nestles up to you, the sweet caress of a lover, the sound of voices joining in unison in a spiritual gathering… these are all good and should be embraced. Like energy "candies" they fortify you with their joyous purity to better handle toxic encounters that may arise.

There are some people who you meet or have to work or live with and that could include your own negative feelings whose thoughts are negative and there vibes affect how you feel and sap your energy. It is very unpleasant. You need to feel good and feel love in your soul. You could turn to God in faith and forgive others and yourself.

Deactivation
Use humor to alleviate dark emotions and remember to vanquish your own by freeing yourself of resentment. Identify your fears, face them, embrace them and then say goodbye to them. Trust your gut about danger and choose your actions wisely. Keep a journal that lists both the good things you've done and the amends you need to make. Then act on them.

Besides all this "feel good" advice, use common sense: Drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, commune with nature and don't spend so much time with electronic gadgets that you forget to live life for real. You'll feel centered and re-energized.

Remember, energy begets energy. This is a reflection of physiology but also describes emotions. What you put out is what you'll receive - if you're sending off enough positivity, you may then force it through the negative person's shield and wind up helping them as well. Now wouldn't that be great?

* Apple or banana with peanut butter: Spread 1 Tbsp peanut butter on a medium-sized piece of fruit. These fruits are all-natural low-calorie energy boosters, and the peanut butter gives you protein.
* Yogurt and granola: Mix 6 ounces of plain non-fat yogurt with 1 Tbsp of granola for a sweet crunchy snack. This will provide energy and protein.
* Dried fruits or nuts: This mix will provide you with good fats and protein, plus the nuts are a slow-burning food that keeps you full and awake. The fruit is packed with fiber, too. To avoid added sugar, look for whole or organic fruits.
* Whole grain crackers and hummus: The whole grain will fill you up without making you sleepy and the hummus—made from garbanzo beans and olive oil—provides some added fiber.

Chemical Room Fresheners May Be harmful



You feel a compelling urge to find what is of true value to you, what your time on this earth is really worth to you. We spend so much of our lives working, when you sense you need to be doing that which really gives you joy, then you know this Angel is speaking to you.

Someone may start strongly encouraging you to do those things you really love doing or even offer to help support you financially while you get this new career off the ground. I have known several people this has happened to over the years!

Other ways to work with the energy of this Angel is to write down all the things that you love to do with your free time and energy. Is there a cohesive thread that runs through them all? Or are there ways you can integrate all of the different elements so that they form the basis of your life's work? Even those things that don't appear to fit together most likely do have relevance and meaning so don\t discount them! Next, create a collage usually photos or pictures from magazines or the internet. Paste together anything that reminds you of what you would love to be doing and place it where you can see it frequently. If part of what you are seeking to create is your own business, begin the process of deciding if it is something you can do from home or if you will need to lease space for it. If home based, begin designating and clearing that space now, don't wait! This sets forth the intent that you will have what you desire! If you find you need to lease a space, begin searching for the right area now, even if you don't have the money yet. You will if you keep going! Find ways to honour what you love to do in what ever way you can. One thing I do is to keep flowers in my own work space as well as a crystal or two and other elements that remind me of how fortunate I am to be doing what I love with my days! It need not be elaborate, sometimes the most simple of things can be the best! Light a candle each day to remind you that your own life's work is now being illuminated through this Angel and the Universe and also to give thanks for all the insight and awareness you have already been given. Spend time conversing with this Angel, telling it of all your hopes and dreams for the future, allow yourself to become truly excited by fulfilling your own Life's purpose, make it a part of your career/business team! You deserve to have days filled with the energy of doing what you love!

Enzymes Are Needed

Anytime you cook food, you obliterate the enzymes found in that food. Raw food contains the enzymes that it needs to be totally broken down (digested) into nutrients. Consider example this: an apple falls from a tree and becomes bruised. This starts a procedure where the apple breaks down and finally digests itself, because the enzymes are doing their job. Take a second apple off the tree and eat it. It contains all the enzymes it desires to digest itself; all you need to do is chew the apple carefully enough to break down the cell walls and free the enzymes.

Take a few additional apples and make apple pie with them. Slice them up, add several sugar and spices, put them in a crust and bake it in the oven. Children need to eat health food for health and growth



Giving your child a breakfast that contains fiber (such as oatmeal, shredded wheat, berries, bananas, or whole-grain pancakes) should keep adrenaline levels more constant and make the school day a more wondrous experience. Packing her or his lunch box with delicious, fiber-containing treats (such as whole-grain breads, peaches, grapes, or a myriad of other fresh fruits) may turn afternoons at home into a delight.

Refined sugars also affect insulin control, which decides how much fat they will store for the rest of their lives. As a child, I had HoHos, Twinkies, and Ding Dongs as regular parts of my meals because my mother, like so many of that era, wanted to give her children a nice treat. We both shudder now to think of it.

Sugar is not just found in sweets or junk cereal. It's in almost everything. When you look at labels, you find sugar, sucrose, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol, or corn syrup on almost every label. The more simple meals from whole foods contain much less sugar.

Fruit juices contain lots of simple sugar without much fiber. Many people think of juices as health foods. This simply isn't true. In small quantities they are fine, but they are mainly a way to get many of the calories and some of the nutrients from a substance, without getting as full and without getting the needed fiber. One study has shown that children who drink more than 12 ounces of fruit juice per day are shorter and fatter than those who don't.

1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1.33 cup sugar
1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan.

2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, soda, salt & spices.

4. Add dry ingredients, alternating w/ water, beating just until smooth. DO NOT overbeat.

Radishes help for breast feeding mothers and Older peoples brains



Doing such things as using the internet and computer and surfing the web plus reading is very good to keep the brain active.
After reading about the UCLA study I went back to my radish soup inquiry and quickly found a blog written by a Malaysian woman who calls herself "MayaKirana," which translates as "Soup Queen."

MayaKirana provides some interesting information about the white radish, along with a simple recipe for white radish soup that calls for one white radish (which looks like a white carrot and can weigh as much as a pound), pork, and red dates. Boil for 10 minutes, simmer for two hours – you're done.

According to MayaKirana, white radish (or daikon) is good for breastfeeding mothers because it prompts lactation. It also happens to be low in calories, but high in nutrition, and is purported to help digestion, soothe sore throats, and relieve asthma symptoms. (But a warning: MayaKirana notes that daikon may neutralize efficacy of herbal tonics and drugs.)

A link to another site revealed additional healthy benefits, noting that daikon is rich source of folic acid, vitamin C, and magnesium – three nutrients that just happen to support brain health and reduce risk of cognitive decline.

"When I first started working with you I didn't know what I wanted to do. I thought I wanted to be an engineer but felt a passion for being a chef. I had this belief that chefs didn't make any money and that engineering was a safe bet. Dark berries are also beneficial because of their bioflavonoids. In fact, you may have heard that RAF fighter pilots ate bilberry jam during World War II to improve their night vision. The effect was due to a bioflavonoid in bilberries (a specific type of wild blueberry found in Europe) that helps protect blood vessels in the eye.

To maximize your intake of carotenoids and bioflavonoids, you should be sure to eat five to nine servings of fresh, colorful, and organic fruits and vegetables a day.
